Don Drum's Chicago North Western Ashlands Division
About the Layout
- Don chose to model his Chicago & North Western Railway Ashland District HO scale layout during the steam-to-diesel transition period, namely from 1956 to 1959. This gave him the option to still model steam in its last year of service and to introduce the new bi-level cars to the Flambeau 400…

Wendy Mollenhauer's Badgerland Southern

About the Layout
View this Mid-Western autumn layout. The track plan is a L shaped loop that wraps around the layout with two yards, Peco turnouts and code 55 rail. It has hundreds of handmade trees, a custom painted backdrop, and a river with a lake, beach and camp ground. Many of the trees were created with thistles from this area and other natural materials. Wooded hills and rock ledges surround the town, farm and crop fields to create a rural setting. Industries include grain elevators, cannery, junk yard, large gravel pit, steel mill and inter-model terminal. This layout was featured in the June2010 issue of Scale Rails and in Milwaukee Magazine. Control: DC 100% scenic

Kettle Moraine Ballast Scorchers Club

About the Layout
The Kettle Moraine Ballast Scorchers Railroad Club (KMBS) was incorporated in 1975, as a non-profit, educational organization. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2025.
Our era of modeling is: 1970’s to present. Scenic: 85%. Size: 22’ x 23’ Scale: HO & N.
KMBS moved into their current West Bend, Wisconsin location in July of 2016. The permanent layout has two levels. HO-Scale on the lower level and N-Scale on the upper level.
The HO layout has a four-track hidden staging yard and one major yard. The N-Scale has two yards. The larger of the two yards can be incorporated into a N-Trak modular system. The layouts are DCC controlled with NCE. Both scales are designed for operation sessions as well as for continuous running during public events.
Currently, KMBS has 45 members. They also have HO-Scale and N-Scale modular layouts. The N-Scale modular layout is on display at the convention for the Public Show this weekend.

Steve Miazga's The Missabe Junction

About the Layout
The Missabe Junction Railway is a freelance N Scale model railroad depicting the area once served by the Soo Line Lake States Division in northern Wisconsin. The layout was on the 2013 convention tours. In 2014, we moved to a new home with a much larger basement and the railroad went through a major expansion in the new home. Mainline track nearly doubled to 260 feet and the overall layout is nearly double in size at 20 by 23 feet. The additions included four new town settings, a double ended staging yard and over 25 new structures (many of which are scratch built) which were included in 14 new dioramic scenes. I have also added LED layout lighting in buildings and landscapes. The layout is completely sceniced.
