Ham and Havarti (Box Lunch)
The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum with the assistance and sponsorship provided by Scale Trains, a unique event is being developed for our Convention. An augmented version of their Missionary Ridge local is being put into place for our Convention attendees. To accommodate our group, NSE was asked to accept the last run of the afternoon.
The “plan” is to leave Nashville Tuesday morning, 7:30 am and arrive in Chattanooga, TN in time for lunch. This would be a 3 hours ride and we will have worked up an appetite by than.
The normal “Missionary Ridge Local” begins at the TVRM Grand Junction depot and takes passengers along one of the original railroad lines into Chattanooga, crossing bridges and diving through the Missionary Ridge Tunnel before arriving at the other side of their museum in East Chattanooga. The train then stops at East Chattanooga, allowing riders off the train to watch the locomotive rotating on a turntable and participate in a tour of the railroad restoration shop before re-boarding for the return trip.
For the N Scale Convention trip, the added attraction of the Southern ALCO 2-8-0 #630 steam engine on the point. In addition to live steam power, TVRRM will also put into the last schedule, a “run by” of the locomotive for the benefit of our group.
Cured ham and Havarti cheese with Greenleaf lettuce and our signature sauce served on sourdough bread. Each box comes with dill pickle, cookie, mint, and potato chips on the side.
