We are going aboard the buses this morning taking a trip to Carson City to meet our train at the Eastgate Depot siding. Normally the train does not operate during the week on this route but we’ve commissioned the train for the day. This will be an hour and a half trip up to Virginia City going through Six Mile Canyon, which was the site of some of the first mining efforts, and earliest settlements, in northwestern Nevada.
New trackage has been added since the last time we took this trip. We’ve also requested a run by so keep your cameras handy. I’ve been told we might even see some mustangs along the way.
Once we reach Virginia City, we are going to have lunch catered to us at the station by the Virginia City Jerky Co. for a BBQ. For those of you who really want to see walk around Virginia City it’s about four blocks uphill to Main Street. We are working on transportation to help those who would rather ride than walk but we can’t guarantee it at this time.
At the end of our stay we will board the buses and take a scenic trip back to the hotel. We should be back in time for you to view the latest auction entries.
