Extra Fare Activities
We are working on plans for some interesting Extra Fare excursions, and self-guided opportunities.
Tuesday June 26, 2012
Our pre-convention day extra fare this year will be a trip to Crater Lake for the day.
We will travel with a Park Ranger who will guide us on a 22 mile tour around the lake.
You can enjoy lunch on your own, but we recommend trying the Crater Lake Lodge.
This will give you a great view of the lake so bring your cameras.
We will be limited to one bus because of space availability in the Crater Lake Lodge dining room, so book early.
On the way to the lake we will stop at Collier Memorial State Park Museum.
This state park has an outdoor logging museum with many logging artifacts.
We have been promised to be given a 45 minute guided tour, or you can tour on your own.
This really should be of great interest to our logging modelers.

and the Medite name continues to enjoy global recognition to this day.

A 4-hour, 36-mile round trip through Hellgate Canyon stopping down river at the OK Corral,
an old homestead, for an all-you-can-eat country banquet.
This 4-hour excursion whisks you down the Rogue River to Hellgate Canyon
and on the return trip stops at the O.K. Corral for a dinner you’ll not soon forget. First, we’ll begin with the Relish Tray, then Tossed Green Salad with our famous homemade Honey-Mustard Dressing.
Piping hot homemade Corn Bread and Ranch-Hand Biscuits accompany our own country-style Barbecued Ribs and Chicken,
plus Fresh Vegetables and Ranch Potatoes.
Topped off with Dessert and accompanied by Beer, Wine, Iced Tea, Lemonade, Coffee and Hot Tea.
If that’s not enough, some uninvited guests – black tail deer, may very well join you.
This trip is a feast for the eyes and the appetite.
Vegetarian meal available if you note it on your registration form.

Click Here for More Train Mountain news
Today we need to start our day early to be at Train Mountain for the grand march of trains.
This will be the only time during the day that all the trains will be in the same spot.
Lined up one after another the trains will measure over 1 mile in length.
Every three years from all parts of the country dedicated models bring their engines and rolling stock to Train Mountain to stretch
their legs. This layout has over 25 mile of track wandering through 4 square miles of Northwest Oregon.
We are fortunate that our event timing allows us to partner up with this event. We cannot guarantee a ride on one of these personal trains but we have access to The Klamath and Western Railroad.
This RR is located about 3 blocks always and running all day.
I have been told that in the past many of the private trains engineers will offer rides to the folks that come to their show.
Hopefully we will be offer one of these rides.
We will end our stay at Train Mountain with a box lunch and then head back to the hotel to rest up for the convention banquet.
